A legacy citation metric for the datasets that form a researcher's S-Index core.
A researcher's S-Impact is the total tracked citations of the datasets that form their S-Index core.
S-Impact is not an h-index over citation counts. First calculate the S-Index from SHARE scores; then sum citations only for those core datasets.
Example Calculation
Researcher has 8 datasets with SHARE scores and citations: Sorted by SHARE score: Position: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 SHARE score: 90 72 55 41 12 6 4 2 Citations: 100 50 30 20 10 5 999 999 S-Index core: Positions 1-6 pass because each SHARE score is >= its position. Positions 7-8 do not pass and are outside the core. S-Index = 6 S-Impact = 100 + 50 + 30 + 20 + 10 + 5 = 215 The two tail records with 999 citations do not count because they are not in the S-Index core.
Complements S-Index
S-Index determines the core dataset set. S-Impact then counts citations only for that core, keeping quality and reuse linked.
Citation-Based
Counts tracked formal citations for datasets in the S-Index core. A separate citation snapshot is required before this can be published for SHARE 2.
Gaming Resistant
Highly cited low-quality tail records do not count unless they are part of the S-Index core.
Repository-Agnostic
Citations are tracked across all sources regardless of which repository hosts the dataset. Cross-repository impact is fully captured.

Key Insight: The S-Index measures input quality from SHARE scores. S-Impact measures tracked reuse only for the S-Index core. SHARE 2 does not publish S-Impact until citation inputs are versioned with the same release discipline as scores.
